This fully online MSc Global Health provides the arena to explore the grand global challenges that impact on population health around the world and analyse the relevance of global health policy to health systems that you have experience working in or are interested to learn more about. Drawing on the expertise of academics from the School of Politics and International Studies and the School of Medicine - Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development, the programme investigates the political drivers of global health alongside more technical public health policy and interventions. In doing so, the programme explores the key factors influencing global health, health preparedness and response, and its actors and policies, offering a global overview of health and the interconnectivity of wider determinants of health at a global level. Moreover, a key consideration with this programme is the interface between global policy and its impact on national health policy and access to health services. This programme further offers unique opportunities to apply knowledge to real-world practice through the development of practical skills and exercises embedded within the programme modules. Some key applications include the use of Artificial Intelligence in support of health research and policy as well as evidence-base creation for monitoring benchmarks associated with the World Health Organization.
This MSc Global Health programme has been purposefully designed to provide a unique interdisciplinary approach that draws in elements of political science and health studies, giving an equal weighting between the disciplines. The programme is designed to appeal to those interested in international health policy, public health, the political economy of health, global health governance, diplomacy, and health development. The programme is also designed to appeal to health professionals, public administrators, and health advocates working within departments of health, health ministries and with global and local communities.
This programme will provide a unique interdisciplinary approach to education in Global Health. Through a collection of individual and group work, you will engage with a wide range of case studies, sometimes in specialised areas with peers from the same discipline, and sometimes in multi-disciplinary teams. You will be part of a global community of learners. This experience will foster a unique understanding of the contemporary issues facing global health practitioners. In terms of delivery, the programme will offer an industry-leading online learning experience, including accessible and inclusive professional-quality learning resources, a wide range of interactive and collaborative learning opportunities, asynchronous and synchronous video/audio online classroom tools, group working activities and case studies.
