Programme overview

Entry requirements

• GCSE English Language: grade B/6 (alternatively grade C if a grade B has been achieved in GCSE English
  - GCSE Mathematics: grade A/7 (alternatively grade C at AS or A Level Mathematics).
  - A level: grades AAA (excluding General Studies, Critical Thinking and Extended Project Qualification).
• When English is not the first language, students will need to provide evidence of English language ability through qualifications such as TOEFL (score of 92 overall, with no less than 21 in listening, 21 in reading, 23 in speaking and 22 in writing) and IELTS (score of 6.5 overall, with no less than 6 in listening, speaking, reading or writing), all in accordance with standard Business School entry requirements and policy.

Programme specification

Leeds is the second centre of banking in the UK - there are over 30 national and international banks here employing 12,700 people. Leeds University Business School is also home to two widely respected research centres, the Institute of Banking and Investment and the Credit Management Research Centre. Taken together, this means that students on the BSc Banking and Finance programme have a unique opportunity to work with highly qualified teaching staff in one of the most student friendly cities in the UK with great graduate and placement opportunities literally on their doorstep.

The programme will produce graduates who are:

Discovery Modules

Students will be required to study 10-30 credits of discovery modules, depending on Maths qualification achieved, or 10 credits of this allowance can be used to select the 10 credit module (LUBS1925) from Optional module list, to make up a total of 120 credits for the year.

Students will be required to pass 100 Year 1 credits in order to progress to Year 2, made up as follows:

- Either Pass 50 credits of compulsory Pass for Progression (PFP) modules AND pass the additional 10 credit Maths module (LUBS1275) if taken AND pass 40 credits of additional compulsory or discovery modules; or

- Pass 50 credits of compulsory Pass for Progression (PFP) modules AND pass 50 credits of additional compulsory or discovery modules.
