This programme is designed as a form of continuing academic and professional development for lecturers and teachers of English working at all levels of the Chinese public or private education system. The overall aim is to develop your capacity to make informed and appropriate decisions for professional action in your own TESOL context and in the wider professional community. We will do this by providing you with inputs and experiential opportunities that:
- build your understanding and knowledge of the academic field of TESOL.
- encourage you to relate these to your own professional environments.
- require you, with colleagues, to reflect on your past professional experience in systematic ways and plan for future action.
- prepare you for doing an independent research project which examines a significant aspect of pedagogy in your professional context.
- motivate you to continue learning and developing in the future, either formally through further study or by taking on new professional responsibilities.
All teaching is face-to-face and takes place at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), which is recognized as one of the premier sites for applied language studies in China. Teaching and assessment is split evenly between lecturers of Leeds and those of GDUFS.
