On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
1. Develop, integrate, synthesise and apply systematic and broad understanding of relevant and state-of-the-art concepts in zoology, to solve complex problems.
2. Interrogate and integrate diverse sources of scientific information, to design and develop methods for investigation and analysis as part of an extended piece of research on a zoology topic.
3. Identify and implement appropriate project planning strategies for an extended research project in zoology, which could include evaluation of ethics, hazards, environmental effects, sustainability and appreciation of costs.
4. Critically evaluate the outcomes of a research project and incorporate any new findings into our understanding of zoology as a discipline.
1. Critically analyse, evaluate and synthesise developments and hypotheses within Zoology, making use of a variety of sources.
2. Effectively apply theoretical and practical knowledge to solve problems in Zoology.
3. Effectively communicate to a variety of audiences through, for example, written and oral approaches, scientific, technical and mathematical concepts, and theoretical principles making use of equations, illustrations, figures and references as appropriate to Zoology.
4. Demonstrate a range of skills in Zoology relevant to fundamental and applied research in academia, industry and the patient/public environment with support as appropriate.
5.Collect, process, analyse, interpret and effectively communicate data (numerical and non-numerical), using appropriate techniques, tools and statistics, form logical, reasonable conclusions, and make recommendations, using appropriate support where necessary.
6.Effectively follow practical experimental protocols and use a range of techniques and apparatus in the laboratory and/or field environment, as appropriate in Zoologyy, competently and safely, using appropriate support where necessary.
7.Design, plan and execute a research project with appropriate support as necessary.
8.Work within health and safety, environmental, and ethical frameworks.
9.Effectively collaborate as a member of a team working on shared tasks relevant to Zoology with appropriate support where required.
10. Demonstrate an awareness of own strengths and development needs and the need for ongoing learning and proactive continuing professional development

As defined in the modules specified for the programme, students will have had the opportunity to acquire the following abilities:

Achievement for the degree of Undergraduate Master will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the
learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:
- evidencing an ability to conduct independent in-depth enquiry within Zoology;
- demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to complex areas in Zoology;
- drawing on a range of perspectives within Zoology;
- evaluating and criticising received opinion;
- make reasoned judgements whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data
