Learning outcomes

1. Apply the concepts, terminology and practical competencies and techniques that are standard features of textile technology, including to standard situations outside the context in which they were originally studied;
2. Employ and appraise various approaches to problem solving associated to textile technology while conforming to professional boundaries and norms;
3. Compare and contrast relevant research methods and resources to address textile technology challenges.    

Skills Learning Outcomes

1. Apply effective written/visual/other communication skills to present a structured and coherent argument;
2. Demonstrate critical and analytical skills;
3. Demonstrate adherence to professional frameworks and standards.

Assessment

Assessment is aligned to the learning outcomes of each module. Students will be assessed through a variety of methods, these may include portfolios of text, images and samples, lab reports, short videos, presentations as well as more traditional essays, reports and occasional exams. Some assessments may be based upon collaboration with peers. This collaboration could be in the development of documents, proposals and/or various forms of visual and textual communication in response to problem-based issues.

In Year 2 assessments focus more on establishing how well students understand, analyse and apply this new knowledge and new skills in relation to contemporary, local and global settings.
