1. A detailed understanding of human social, economic, political and cultural systems from a spatial and/or environmental perspective.
2. An understanding of geography's intellectual development and important theoretical perspectives applied in the study of space, place and the environment.
3. A detailed understanding of key issues and debates in transport geography and the challenges for planning and policy solutions.
4. A detailed appreciation of the practical contributions made by geography and transport studies to debates and policy on societal and environmental issues.
5. The skills necessary to engage with ideas in the social sciences and humanities.
6. Skills in the use of geographical information systems, and the application of qualitative and quantitative analysis to geographical study.
7. Skills in teamwork, investigation, presentation and communication.

Approach to assessment
The assessments at Level 2 build on the knowledge and skills gained at Level 1 and start to build a portfolio of knowledge and key transferable skills relevant to future career pathways within the subject discipline. Assessments have a range of formats in accordance with the learning and skills outcomes of the modules specified at this level in the programme. Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:
