Learning outcomes

Subject Specific Learning Outcomes

By the end of Level 2, students will be able to:

1. display , especially through work on core modules, a broad understanding of the concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which are standard features in a range of aspects of the discipline of Film Studies
2. apply generic and subject specific intellectual qualities to standard situations outside the context in which they were originally studied
3. demonstrate knowledge of a range of texts, genres, aesthetic forms and cultural practices, and the ability to produce close and informed analysis of these

Skills Learning Outcomes

By the end of Level 2, students will:

1. be able to select and apply appropriate methodologies
2. be able to engage in analytical, evaluative and lateral thinking and to marshal arguments
3. be able to work with others, under pressure, and to meet deadlines

Competence Standards

1. identify and apply concepts and principles which are features of the study of Film Studies.
2. effectively communicate key theories and appropriately contextualised ideas and arguments about Film analysis.
3. employ standard methods for close work on sources.
4. direct, monitor and evaluate your own work and reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of different methods of enquiry.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include essays, presentations, literature reviews, and clip analyses.

Errors, omissions, failed links etc should be notified to the Catalogue Team
