Learning outcomes

1. Acquire a good background in university-level geology, physics and mathematics.
2. Integrate multiple approaches across various geophysical and atmospheric disciplines to investigate real-world case studies.
3. Solve quantitative problems relating to geophysical investigation of the solid Earth and atmosphere.

Skills Learning Outcomes

1. Develop an understanding how to describe natural phenomena through physical models and equations.
2. Design and implement short computer programs and electronic maps.
3. Develop effective presentation and communication skills, as well as teamwork.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme, and will include:

- Demonstrating the understanding of fundamental concepts and the application of mathematical and physical techniques relevant to the discipline.
- Formulating and solving quantitative problems in main areas of the subject.
- Communicate and present quantitative results.
- Assess work that has been completed independently or in a team.
