1. Demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts, terminology, salient characteristics and practical competencies and techniques that are standard features of textile technology;
2. Infer the appropriateness of various textile manufacturing approaches within a particular context;
3. Interpret and exemplify the underlying concepts and principles of sustainability within the context of the fashion and textile industry;
4. Identify relevant research resources to address clear problems set in the context of textile technology.

Assessment is aligned to the learning outcomes of each module. Students will be assessed through a variety of methods, these may include portfolios of text, images and samples, lab reports, short videos, presentations as well as more traditional essays, reports and occasional exams. Some assessments may be based upon collaboration with peers. This collaboration could be in the development of documents, proposals and/or various forms of visual and textual communication in response to problem-based issues.
In Year 1 assessments focus on the understanding and acquisition of new knowledge and practical, digital, academic and professional skills.
