Subject Specific Learning Outcomes

On completion of Level 3, you will be able to:

1. demonstrate and apply coherent and detailed knowledge of of the key concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which constitute Ancient History and English literary studies.

2. undertake independent study into a chosen topic or topics in Ancient History and/or English.

3. analyse in depth particular aspects of Ancient History and English literature: the aspect(s) involved will depend on choice of options.

4. describe and comment on particular aspects of recent research in your historical and literary specialism(s).

Skills Learning Outcomes

On completion of Level 3, you will be able to:

1. demonstrate a conceptual understanding which enables you to construct, develop and sustain an argument.

2. independently locate and make appropriate use of scholarly literature and primary sources.

3. initiate, research and complete an extended piece of work or project.

4. conform to disciplinary boundaries and norms where applicable, and recognise the uncertainty, ambiguity and limitations of knowledge in the disciplines.

Competence Standards
1. Demonstrate understanding of key facts and ideas about the study of Ancient History and English
2. Identify, explain, and evaluate debates, concepts, and principles which are features of the study of Ancient History and English
3. Design and demonstrate anindependent and self-guided research project with the appropriate support when required.

4. Demonstrate ability to direct, monitor and evaluate their work, by seeking/accepting feedback, within a workplace context, using appropriate support as necessary.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include an extended research project, essays, presentations, source analysis exercises, commentaries, creative writing exercises, computer exercises, virtual exhibitions and exams.

Errors, omissions, failed links etc should be notified to the Catalogue Team
