Learning outcomes

Our students will be able to:

i. Engage critically with current issues, research and scholarship in the field of HRM (PA 1-8)
ii. Demonstrate the analytical, critical thinking and intellectual skills required to solve human resource management problems. (PA 1-8)
iii. Execute and present a piece of high-quality independent research on a Human Resource Management topic.(PA 7)
iv. Manipulate and interpret data using both quantitative and qualitative methods (PA 7)
v. Articulate how global and cultural influences impact on local employment practices.(PA 1, 2, 3, 4)
vi. Deliver professional quality presentations on HRM issues using appropriate technologies (PA 8)
vii. Produce professional-quality business reports and documents. (PA 8)
viii. Work effectively as part of a team. (PA 8)
ix. Be a reflective and ethical practitioner in HRM, continuously and critically developing their HR skills (PA 8)

Competence Standards

1. Identify, describe, and critically evaluate current issues, research, and scholarship in the fields of Management and Human Resource Management.
2. Demonstrate the analytical and critical thinking skills required to solve Management and Human Resource Management problems.
3. Effectively complete and communicate an original piece of research on a Human Resource Management or general Management topic, with appropriate support as necessary.
4. Effectively communicate and interpret data using appropriate methods.
5. Effectively work in collaboration with others with appropriate support as necessary.
6. Demonstrate development of skills needed to become a reflective and ethical practitioner of Human Resource Management and Management.

7. Demonstrate ability to direct, monitor and evaluate their work, by seeking/accepting feedback, within a workplace context, using appropriate support as necessary.
8. Demonstrate an awareness of own strengths and development needs and the need for ongoing learning and proactive continuing professional development.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:

- demonstrating the ability to apply a broad range of aspects of the discipline;
- work that draws on a wide variety of material;
- the ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion;
- the option to conduct independent, in depth enquiry within the discipline; and
- work that is typically both evaluative and analytical.
