On successful completion of the year, students will be able to:
Philosophy and HPS
1. Construct detailed explanations and critical analysis of a wider range of concepts, arguments and debates in normative and/or theoretical philosophy
2. Construct detailed explanations and evaluations of historical and philosophical accounts of sciences of the mind.
3. Differentiate between, and apply, philosophical and historiographical research methods in your own work.
4. Coherently develop and defend a complex argument in support of your own view on philosophical and historical texts, arguments and ideas.
Psychology
5. Critically discuss conceptual knowledge in Cognitive Psychology and either Developmental or Social Psychology
6. Apply, with evaluation, conceptual knowledge within psychological sub-disciplines

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules and will include essays, exams, reports, and presentations.
There will be a range of unassessed formative exercises on many modules, allowing students to make progress with the LOs and skills outside an assessment context. Opportunities for explicit discussion and support will be made available by module leaders in student hours and in routine meetings with academic personal tutors.
