Learning Outcomes
On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
evidence a deepened understanding of Middle Eastern and North African cultures, societies and politics and the current issues facing the region;
show critical awareness of, and ability to deploy, different approaches and theories in the study of the Middle East and North Africa and Politics, including theories on decolonialism and orientalism;
demonstrate a deepened/critical understanding of current debates in the Middle East and North Africa.
deploy with greater confidence concepts and theories relevant to Middle Eastern and North African studies and Politics in the production of work, both in orally and in writing;
evidence a firm command of academic literacies, including referencing and citation.
Skills Learning Outcomes
By the end of year one students will be able to:

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods. These may include essays, presentations, literature reviews, and written and practical exams…etc. Assessment methods are in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:
demonstrating the use of, and critical engagement with, key terminology, concepts and debates that underpin the study of Middle Eastern and North African studies and Politics, in accordance with the learning outcomes for this level;
demonstrating an ability to construct a coherent and critical argument, both oral and written;
demonstrating an ability to critically use and evaluate secondary sources, in accordance with the learning outcomes for this level;
demonstrating enhanced abilities, skills and practical competencies, in accordance with the learning outcomes for this level.
