Learning outcomes

On completion of Level 1, you will be able to:

1. describe basic features of Ancient Greek and Roman history and reflect on the range of primary evidence available to study them.
2. demonstrate basic understanding of the broad field of English literary studies, including the genres of poetry, fiction, and drama from a range of periods and locations.
3. interpret and evaluate the underlying basic concepts and principles of the study of Ancient History and English.
4. recognise the importance of the literary, cultural and socio-historical contexts in which historical documents and literature are written and read.

Skills Learning Outcomes

On completion of Level 1, you will be able to:

1. communicate the results of your work by presenting structured and coherent simple arguments.
2. identify professional and disciplinary boundaries, and appraise your own skills, strengths and development needs and the need for ongoing reflective awareness and engagement.
3. evaluate different arguments and perspectives through the use of supporting evidence and appropriate sources.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include essays, presentations, commentaries, creative writing assignments and exams.
