On successful completion of Level 3, students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate a critical and sophisticated knowledge of the literary, cultural and socio-historical contexts in which literature is written;
2. Devise and execute an independent project in English or Music that synthesises diverse contexts and perspectives;
3. Produce a structured and coherent argument demonstrating sophisticated knowledge of critical terminology.
4. Interrogate and critique methodologies used in the study of music.
Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of Level 3, students should be able to:
1. Work independently and on their own initiative to devise a project, generate imaginative and original ideas, and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines;
2. Demonstrate an advanced ability to conduct independent research, using supporting evidence to challenge or nuance their own ideas;
3. Work closely with others in response to challenging briefs with external/real-word implications.
4. Make independent use of a variety of digital resources to attain personal/professional goals.
The Subject Specific and Skills Learning outcomes can be met through the core module, the Final Year Project, an extended 40-credit module spanning two semesters and requiring sustained skills of research, project management, critical thinking and advanced writing. Assessments on the specialist research modules vary according to the options chosen, but support the Final Year Project core through developing skills of independent research, critical thinking and sustained analysis.
