Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of Level 3, students should be able to:
1. Work independently and on their own initiative to devise a project and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines;
2. Demonstrate an advanced ability to conduct independent research, using supporting evidence to challenge or nuance their own ideas when generating imaginative and original concepts;
3. Demonstrate advanced critical thinking skills through constructing a structured and coherent portfolio and referencing a wide range of appropriately selected evidence.
The Subject Specific and Skills Learning outcomes can be met through the Creative Writing Project, an extended 40-credit core module spanning two semesters and requiring sustained skills of research, project management, critical thinking and advanced writing. Assessments on the specialist research modules vary according to the options chosen, but support the Creative Writing Project core through developing skills of independent research, critical thinking and sustained analysis. In the other 20-credit core module titled Page, Publication and Audience, achievement is assessed by a reflective portfolio demonstrating the ability to conduct independent, in-depth enquiry within the discipline of creative writing.
