The Subject Specific and Skills Learning outcomes can be met through the three core modules. The English Literature core modules combine shorter critical exercises as their first assessments, and longer essays for their second assessments. The extended 40-credit Creative Writing core module involves one assessment per semester comprising a creative portfolio and critical reflection requiring the locating, analysis and evaluation of appropriate sources for writing in a chosen genre. Together, they work to enhance the different elements tested at Level 1, while preparing students for the advanced research skills required at Level 3.
