On completion of Level 1, you will be able to:
1. recognise and apply the basic concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which are standard features of the study of Classical Literature and English.
2. demonstrate basic understanding of the broad field of Classical Literature, and discuss particular aspects of some major genres of ancient Greek and Latin literature.
3. demonstrate basic understanding of the broad field of English literary studies, including the genres of poetry, fiction, and drama from a range of periods and locations.
4. interpret and evaluate the underlying basic concepts and principles of the study of literature.

1. communicate the results of your work by presenting structured and coherent simple arguments.
2. identify disciplinary scope and boundaries, and appraise your own skills, strengths and development needs and the need for ongoing reflective awareness and engagement.
3. evaluate different arguments and perspectives through the use of supporting evidence and appropriate sources.
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include essays, presentations, commentaries, creative writing assignments and exams.
