This programme develops graduates with a strong theoretical and practical understanding of management consultancy, enabling them to critically evaluate the role of consultancy organisations and the environments in which they operate. Through core modules, students gain a structured understanding of the consultancy project life cycle and develop advanced research skills to analyse data and produce evidence-based recommendations. Optional modules extend this knowledge across key management domains, including strategic change, leadership, decision-making, entrepreneurship, diversity management and business analytics, while future-focused options ensure students can integrate sustainability, AI and the future of work into consultancy analysis. The programme culminates in an applied consulting project or dissertation, through which students demonstrate their ability to apply consultancy skills effectively in organisational contexts, and develop professional, analytical and interpersonal capabilities essential for consultancy and related careers.
On successful completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:
- Critically evaluate the role, purpose and value of management consultancy organisations, including the external economic, social and institutional contexts in which consultancy firms operate.
- Analyse and critically assess the consultancy project life cycle, demonstrating an understanding of how consultancy engagements are designed, managed, delivered and evaluated in practice.
- Apply advanced consultancy research methods, enabling the systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of data to inform evidence-based consultancy recommendations.
- Demonstrate a strong theoretical grounding in management consultancy, critically evaluating and applying relevant business and management theories, models and frameworks to complex organisational problems.
- Integrate contemporary management challenges-including sustainability, digitalisation, diversity and the future of work-into consultancy analysis and solution design.
- Exhibit well-developed analytical, interpersonal and professional skills relevant to consultancy practice, including problem-solving, communication, teamwork, client engagement and ethical judgement.
- Effectively apply consultancy knowledge and skills in an organisational context, demonstrated through the completion of an applied consulting project that synthesises theory, research and professional practice.
