The programme aims to provide a broad foundational understanding of the social sciences and law for non-traditional students who wish to attain the skills, attributes and qualification necessary for undergraduate study. The programme provides students with introductory knowledge of approaches, concepts, theories and principles relevant to social scientific and legal understandings and interpretations of the social world.

Throughout, the programme encourages the development of relevant study skills and a self-directed approach to learning through a set of six compulsory core modules covering the disciplines of sociology, social policy, law and politics.
