The Term Abroad is graded on a pass / fail basis. In other words, students will not receive a numerical grade for their Term Abroad as they do for modules taken at the University of Leeds and the Term Abroad will not normally affect students’ degree classifications. Term Abroad study at a partner institution is graded on a pass/fail basis and students are expected to meet the following requirements: • attend the language course at the partner institution and complete the relevant coursework on a regular basis • complete the language course successfully including satisfactory attendance Term Abroad Work Placement (WP) is graded on a Pass/Fail basis and you are expected to meet the following requirements: • be resident in the country and town of work for a minimum of three months (excluding the usual holiday periods of the particular country concerned which fall within those months); • complete the placement as agreed by the School prior to departure; • achieve at least a satisfactory end-of-placement report from the placement provider. This report is checked but no feedback is provided. If parts of the Term Abroad requirements are not completed, students may be required (at the discretion of the Module Leader) to undertake a re-sit essay of either 1000 or 2000 words depending upon the level of fail (see Residence Abroad On-Placement Handbook). If students do not fulfill the residency requirement, or there is evidence of no serious attempt to fulfill the requirements of the work or study placement, students may be required to resit the term abroad at their own expense.
