Objectives
To introduce students to philosophical issues in the study and appreciation of works of art.
Syllabus
This module will investigate the nature and value of art by exploring questions central to aesthetics. These may concern, for example, the status and justification of aesthetic judgements, the nature of imagination, artistic knowledge and links between art and morality.
Teaching Methods
Weekly lecture, fortnightly tutorial including student presentations.
