Module summary

In this module, you will build on the knowledge and skills developed in previous years and work individually or in small groups to respond to a brief set by either an external company, artist, organisation, community group, or in some cases by your tutor. Your task is to understand the challenges and opportunities of the particular context of the brief and demonstrate your ability to provide creative and critical support for an externally-relevant project – i.e. conducting research for the development of a production, evaluating a community-based initiative, analysing audience feedback from a performance event, designing a workshop, etc.

Objectives

This module will recognise and support the development of appropriate skills in initiative, independent research, creative investigation and/or working within a specific organisational role within Theatre & Performance.

The learning activities involve taking part in a development activity or piece of research for an external partner. Whilst involved in this collaboration, you will be encouraged to gain a detailed understanding of the context in which you are working and explore current challenges and opportunities as they arise.

You will be encouraged to either initiate, propose or imagine an approach to practice that might help the organisation, individual or group, to improve or enhance their work in some way.
