Pre-requisite qualifications

Students wishing to take performance in this module need a minimum of ABRSM, Trinity, Guildhall or Rockschool Grade 7 (or demonstrate that they are of equivalent standard).

Module summary

This module allows you to practice your skills within a specific area of Music, whether it be performance, composition, music business, or music technology. Depending on your choice of project, you might create an audio design for a film clip or a video marketing pitch; alternatively, you might work with a teacher to compose a short piece or present a formal instrumental or vocal recital. Individual or small group instruction will support your practical development.

Objectives

This module aims to support you in developing one area of your practical engagement with music. For students in music technology, music business, or in composition, the module is taught primarily via individual or small group supervisions which introduce new skills and provide opportunities for individual development and formative feedback. Students taking performance will receive 10 1-hour lessons with an instrumental or vocal teacher as part of the preparation for a final recital.
