The student will be monitored by a supervisor, who will periodically set tasks and discuss the progress of the work.

Objectives

To make an extended investigation of an advanced topic in Mathematics or Statistics through independent study under the supervision of a member of academic staff. The project work spans two semesters, with an interim report produced by end of Semester 1 and followed by a final report (dissertation) and oral presentation (with Q&A), both assessed by the supervisor and an independent assessor during exam period at the end of Semester 2.
