This module will enable you to identify, develop and reflect upon your academic, professional and digital skills within the context of your programme of study. You will develop digital skills and confidence in engaging with different digital platforms. You will be provided with opportunities to share understandings, perspectives and experiences of different disciplinary frameworks with those who have different professional backgrounds.
This module extends from the year one LLLC1460 Your Development: Introduction module, progressing you to the intermediate level. The module will enhance your academic, professional and digital literacies; underpinning and informing your subject specific module work and wider professional development within your disciplinary contexts.
During the seminar and workshops there will opportunities for individual and group work to practice, refine and share strategies for reflective and confident approaches to learning. As you are now working at this intermediate level of study, you will also be encouraged and supported to be more proactive and demonstrate independence in your studies and lifelong learning.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Evaluate the relevance and reliability of sources for independent academic and professional research.
2. Analyse debates within academic research relevant to your degree subject area
3. Use appropriate digital tools to demonstrate academic and professional skills to target audiences.
4. Apply critical and theoretically-informed reflection to ongoing development of academic, professional, and digital skills at undergraduate level.
5. Develop effective plans for academic and professional development, utilising research and reflection.
Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
1. Reflective writing: to consider personal, professional and academic learning and growth.
2. Critical approach to research: find, analyse, organise sources using appropriate digital tools/platforms, considering their relevance and quality.
3. Academic writing: ability to write in a clear, concise, focused and structured manner that is supported by relevant evidence and referenced appropriately.
4. Digital collaboration: communicate and collaborate constructively and professionally with peers through a variety of digital tools and networks in order to share ideas, to produce research, materials and resources, and to engage in online dialogue and debate.
5. Digital identity and wellbeing: creating a professional profile and reflecting on digital footprint.

There will be ongoing monitoring of student progress throughout the module (e.g. via PebblePad activities) and tutors will be available via email and TEAMS. There will also be tutorials to monitor progress and formative feedback will be provided for tasks.

The portfolio will consist of a number of tasks focusing on academic, professional and digital topics and themes which are appropriate to the context of each programme. The tasks will allow you to draw upon your individual academic and work-related experiences and to develop your academic, professional and digital skills.
