Module summary

This module provides you with an understanding of the nature and purpose of a range of organisations and the different types of legal and organisational structures. You will be introduced to the tools used to analyse the impact on organisations brought about by changes in the internal, external and global environment.

Objectives

The objectives of the module are to enable you to:
1. Identify the nature and purposes of different types of organisations.
2. Apply an understanding of the theories, concepts and techniques related to the organisational environment.
3. Apply a recognised business analysis tool to analyse the impact of changes in the internal, external and global environment

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Describe the nature, purpose and legal structure of a range of organisations.
2. Explain the relationships between organisational structure, organisational culture and the organisational environment.
3. Describe the extent to which an organisation meets the objectives of different stakeholders.
4. Apply a recognised business analysis tool to evaluate the impact of changes in the internal, external and global environment within which organisations operate.

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
1. To effectively develop Communication skills and clearly demonstrate the ability to present complex business topics.
2. Utilise Technical / IT skills to curate a professional presentation.
3. Demonstrate Creativity through the creation of effective presentation of business topics.
4. Demonstrate Critical thinking skills to demonstrate awareness of the complex nature of the business environment.
5. Develop Core literacies around the business environment
6. Develop Commercial awareness skills when observing the business environment of a specific business.
