This module provides an introduction to English contract law, covering a wide range of key legal principles governing the formation, modification, performance and legal remedies in English contract law.
The module aims to introduce students to the key legal rules in English contract law and discuss how the law is applied with proper reference to both case law and statutes. The knowledge will ensure the students understand the operation of contract law in the legal practice.
The learning activities are designed to explain and discuss the key legal principles in English and contract law and help students to develop the skill of applying the law to practical problems.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Identify knowledge of fundamental legal principles in English contract law.
2. Use appropriate legal terminology to discuss and interpret the key legal rules in English contract law with appropriate reference to case law and statutes.
3. Use basic legal reasoning to apply the key legal rules in English contract law to solve problem questions.
Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
1. Practise the professional skill of recalling knowledge of fundamental legal principles in the context of time-limited multiple-choice questions.
2. Practise critical thinking on legal issues, demonstrating an understanding of different perspectives
3. Communicate clearly and effectively, using technical legal terminology appropriately

A formal formative assessment opportunity will be provided for each summative assessment task, which is specifically pedagogically aligned to that task. As part of this, each student will receive feedback designed to support the development of knowledge and skills that will be later assessed in the summative task.
