This is an FYP module, so students will need to have completed L1 and L2 before commencing the FYP.

The module provides the student with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of a theme or themes of their choosing. The form of the assessment is an extended writing assignment. Students will normally engage with a theme they have studied across their degree in previous years, and where appropriate they will be encouraged to make connections with the field represented in their major. Students need at least 40 credits in the discipline of their Final Year Project. The project will involve the use of interdisciplinary skills of enquiry. Students will follow the model of teaching for final year projects in the school of their chosen discipline.
To enable students to design and undertake a Final Year Project in Liberal Arts. Students will acquire independent research skills, interdisciplinary skills of enquiry, and the ability to use constructive feedback to improve their work.
On completion of the module students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate detailed knowledge of a specific field of enquiry
2. Demonstrate skills of cross-disciplinary enquiry
3. Demonstrate the skills of independent research
4. Demonstrate the relevant advanced critical and analytic skills associated with the chosen field of enquiry

Workshops (x5, semester 1) to aid in planning the project – generic skills of enquiry and research, time management, working with a supervisor, cross-disciplinarity.
Individual supervisions will be negotiated by the student with their supervisor(s). Depending on the chosen field, subject-relevant project briefings/support will be provided by the individual supervising schools.

This will depend on the nature of assessment, but will include some of: research, writing, preparing presentations, discussions with other students.
The teaching methods will be determined by the school you are supervised in (the 'Discipline School'). This can include a mixture of lectures, group sessions, and one-to-one supervision. You should check the module catalogue for the Discipline School you want to do your project in to see what model they use.
There will be an opportunity for formative feedback. The form this will take is determined by the
Discipline School (check the relevant module catalogue).
