This module is approved as a discovery module
This module builds on the Cantonese learned in EAST2182. It covers more complicated grammatical structure and vocabulary of Cantonese. Classes include conversation, role-play, and learning from audiotapes. You will be able to conduct more sophisticated conversations in Cantonese at the end of the course.
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- conduct competent discussions in Cantonese on a range of topics in business, current affairs and social or political issues;
- acquire advanced comprehension of Cantonese speech, and follow oral news bulletin and films;
- write simple passages using Cantonese vocabulary.
The module builds on the skills acquired in EAST2182, Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers 1. Students will attend practical classes. Selected business topics and original materials from television programmes, broadcasting news bulletin and films are used as the basis of language study and application in group discussion, debate and role-play.
