This module builds upon, and further develops, the oral, aural, reading and written language skills developed in EAST1703 (or equivalent) and seeks to extend and deepen students' knowledge and understanding of the Thai grammar, syntax and basic vocabulary. It will extend students' ability to read and write short passages in the Thai script and to communicate on subjects they are likely to use in everyday situations. Please note this is an optional module and runs subject to enrolments. If a low number of students choose this module, then the module may not run and you may be asked to choose another module

2. Read and translate short texts on a number of topics covered on the module from Thai into English and vice versa;
3. Comprehend authentic spoken Thai relating to the topics covered and respond on these topics using appropriate vocabulary and grammatical constructions;
4. Produce structured pieces of writing on a number of topics covered during the semester.
5. Explain historical and contemporary events within the cultural, religious, political, and societal contexts of Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries
