This module is not approved as a discovery module
In this module, students will explore different global concepts and innovations in fashion styling and photography and use this research (both visual and written) to inform the development and creation of concepts for a series of styled fashion photographs. The module content will explore what constitutes the creation of a contemporary fashion image for photography through critical interrogation of the variety of media in which they are published. They will also consider the international, social and commercial parameters of their ideas, and identify a suitable market level, and commercial platform for their concepts to be communicated through styling and photography. Please note this is an optional module and runs subject to enrolments. If a low number of students choose this module, then the module may not run and you may be asked to choose another module.
This module aims to further intellectual enquiry, research skills and creative thinking and develop an understanding of fashion styling and photography by taking the student on a contextual journey of exploration. Students will be encouraged to question and challenge ideas and think innovatively about perspectives, which influence fashion photography, including issues of style, gender, globalisation and inclusivity.
