The module aims to give students an understanding of the creative industries, job roles and effective teamwork. It will explore the range of skills and knowledge necessary to enhance employability. Students will be taught strategies for project planning and management, and will implement these strategies by working on a range of briefs in line with the demands and standards of professional practices. Students will be taught advanced presentation skills in relation to the design industries and professional contexts. The module will also include branding design methods and applications, motion design and design for print.

1. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of a range of design process's in-line with industrial practice.
2. Design and execute effective communication through motion design, print and screen.
3, Explore solutions that challenge conventions in graphic design.
4. Present design solutions to meet professional standards.
5. Demonstrate an advanced understanding of branding methods and applications.
6. Demonstrate an understanding of strategy and narrative in relation to brand communications.
This module will be made up of lectures, seminars and computer cluster session.
Lectures will introduce students to the standards required in the different design sectors.
Seminars will develop students critical analysis skills and creative thinking abilities
Cluster sessions will develop each students design production skills.
The module will in include coverage of topics such as the following in the context of industry professionalism and the role of designer:
Ethical considerations in the graphic design industry
Industrial design roles and teamwork
Advanced design processes
Project planning and time management
The link between practice, industry, and expression
Self-promotion
Meeting industrial standards of quality while also challenging conventions.

Students are expected to carry out research, analyse and present findings as well as complete assignments during private study. Students are given lists of extra supporting information. This information is chosen to underpin their understanding of the assessed projects and to facilitate further investigation. It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 150.00 hours of private study for this module. The lectures provide the foundation of information needed by you to successfully complete the module, however, you will be expected to use private study to develop your understanding of the subject. Through the private study students will explore in greater depth the concepts discussed in the lectures as well as having the opportunity to consider the wider contextual aspects of the subject. Private study can consist of using material from the library, national and international news and the internet.
Students will be provided with discussion-led formative feedback at key points during the module. Group critiques will allow students to share their work with their peers and the staff whilst still under development. It also allows other students to gain insights from other’s feedback. Students will also receive formal individual feedback during the semester. This will allow for focused identification of strengths and weaknesses and for tailored advice to be provided regarding further development/processes required.
