COMM2615 | Documentary Production |
This module is not approved as a discovery module
This is essentially a practical module designed to help you acquire a more in-depth knowledge of specific skills needed in producing digital content for the creative industries. A pass in this or COMM2615 Documentary Film Production is needed for COMM3880 Cinema Project.
The module aims to immerse you in the processes required to construct sequences for film and television production (and associated platforms) using industry based equipment and software. On this module students must work effectively as part of a group, in a specific role, and contribute to the production and promotion of a creative idea to industry pitching standards, planning and scheduling the project to meet a specified deadline. The module will include material on ethics, health and safety and the practical realities of production planning. It will also help students to learn how to work effectively in a film production team – the different roles and responsibilities, and how to demonstrate their individual contribution to a collective project. Students will acquire a wide array of transferable skills including teamwork, digital editing and creative writing. These skills maybe built on during any subsequent modules that contain a practical component, or may equally inform other aspects of their degree.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Apply key principles of film production.
2. Plan and organise a short film production.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of digital production and post-production processes.
4. Apply copyright law, principles of ethical image production and sustainability within the industry
