Module summary

This module will build upon concepts of enterprise and allow students to further develop their team-working skills, while learning more about how to exploit chemistry research in a real-world scenario.

Objectives

On completion of this module, students should have an understanding of how to set up a new enterprise, from the inception and development of an idea through to the preparation of a business plan, and to prepare a funding pitch for potential investors.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Given a chemical research idea, carry out a feasibilty study on its commercial viability
2. Construct a project plan for the commercialisation of the idea.
3. Construct a facilities and equipment list needed for commercialisation of the idea
4. Construct a marketing plan for commercialisation of the idea
5. Construct a budgetary plan for commercialisation of the idea

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills :
