This module is not approved as a discovery module
This module is the culmination of the practice-based modules within the Fine Art programme(s). Building towards the final module assessment and the end of year degree show exhibition , the module is designed to prepare you for life beyond undergraduate study, whether in education at a postgraduate level or in work as an artist or arts professional. This is achieved through consolidation of an ambitious and critically informed body of work and the development of an individual artistic practice.
• Continue to build upon, consolidate and be able to critically apply skills learned in the previous modules ( ARTF2130 Defining Your Practice and ARTF2131 Practice into Public Contexts
• Continue to engage further with the complex nature of contemporary art practices, in a variety of media, and continue to develop high critical and analytical skills;
• Critically examine the histories and traditions of practice in order to locate this within the historical and contemporary continuum;
• To establish an individual art practice and apply critical skills in the presentation of this in an exhibition context.
On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
1. Experiment extensively with your chosen media, demonstrating technical expertise, risk taking and imaginative thinking to produce conceptually sound outcomes.
2. Locate your individual art practice confidently within the field of contemporary art and its histories, clearly engaging with contexts and discourses that inform your practice.
3. Produce original and informed outcomes through an extended research process that synthesises the conceptual framework for your art practice.
4. Present your work effectively in an exhibition context utilising appropriate methods of curation and display
On successful completion of the module, you will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5. Initiate and independently generate resolved practice-based outcomes that demonstrate creative thinking and problem solving.
6. Apply project management skills including managing time and resources effectively and independently, building positive relationships with others to enable successful collective projects or other collaborations.
