Module summary

In this module you will engage with playful and risk taking approaches to a broad range of materials within a fine art practice. Through group work in the studio, technical and creative workshops, visiting speakers talks and field trips you will develop art work that reflects your research interests and locates your work in a contextual framework of fine art contemporary practice. Through this you will also develop insight into the ats ecology within the city and the region.

Objectives

On completion of the module students will have demonstrated playful and risk taking approaches to a broad range of materials within a fine art practice. They will have attained a broad range of technical skills across a variety of media to support their development as independent artists.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module syou will be able to:
1. Produce art work that expresses experimentation, innovation and creative risk-taking.
2. Produce art work that reflects your research interests and locates your work in a contextual framework of fine art contemporary practice.
3. Employ a range of technical making skills in order to produce a body of artwork.
4. Recognise the opportunities for artistic practice in the city and region.

Skills learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5. Communication and presentational skills appropriate to a broad range of environments including academic and creative professional contexts.
6. The skills, values and ethical practices necessary to contribute to group enterprises.
