This module is not approved as a discovery module
In this module you will explore materials, concepts, and methods of artistic production. Through weekly skill sessions, artist-led workshops and field trips you will explore professional pathways, developing your understanding of the variety of roles artists are assuming today. The semester concludes with an exhibition giving you professional experience of exhibiting, curating, marketing and technical installation.
On completion of the module students will have demonstrated innovative and experimental approaches working with a broad range of materials within a fine art context. They will have attained a range of technical skills across a variety of media to support their development as independent artists. Professional experiences of exhibiting, curating, marketing and technical installation will have been explored.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Produce artwork that articulates experimentation, innovation and creative risk-taking in the contextual framework of fine art contemporary practice.
2. Manipulate a range of technical making skills in the making of artwork.
3. Recognise the diverse ways an artist can practice in society today.
