BSc (Hons) Audiology programme specification for entry onto level 3 study (typically completion of 120 Level 2 BSc (Hons) Audiology credits).

This is a compulsory Level 3 module for BSc Audiology students. This module will provide the student with knowledge and understanding of advanced audiological assessment and management techniques related to specialist populations including tinnitus patients, individuals with vestibular disorders and people with multiple and additional difficulties.
The aim of this module is to advance student's knowledge and understanding regarding the epidemiology of non-routine audiology and vestibular disorders and develop knowledge and understanding regarding the assessment and management needs of specialist populations with hearing and vestibular disorders.
1.Appraise and discuss audiology service delivery, patient pathways and financial implications with respect to the assessment and management of specialist populations.
2. Demonstrate understanding of the approaches utilised to assess and manage people with vestibular dysfunction.
3. Critically evaluate the assessment and management options for people with tinnitus.
4. Critically discuss the assessment and management needs of specialist populations within an audiology setting.
Independent online learning:
A flipped learning approach to delivery will be utilised within this module whereby resources for students to view and work through will be provided prior to each taught session on that topic. All resources will be made available through MINERVA.
Private study:
Directed activities and reading will be provided following each taught session. In addition, students will use private study to prepare for the assessed online unseen exam.
- Epidemiology of specialist audiological disorders with respect to specialist populations.
- Vestibular disorders, assessment and management.
- Assessment and management of tinnitus.
- Audiological assessment and management of specialist populations including older adults and individuals with learning disabilities and dementia.

A number of methods will be employed to monitor student progress:
- Student engagement and contributions during taught sessions, in particular during seminars, will be monitored by the teaching team.
- Tutorials (group and individual) will be utilised to check learning and progress in completion of required preparation for the online exam.
