Independent online learning:
Independent online learning will be required prior to each practical session. This will typically involve directed reading of required protocols and worksheets, and viewing videos of the skills to be practiced.
Private study:
Students will be required to undertake further reading to fully prepare them for their clinical placements and private study will also be required to prepare and complete the assessment for this module.
Progress will also be monitored via monitoring engagement, contributions and completion of practical skills and worksheets during the practical sessions. Students will be given opportunities to practice the required clinical skills during practical sessions. Furthermore, at the end of semester 1, students will be asked to submit a plan of their case study for feedback prior to the summative submission. During semester 2, students will also be asked to provide a brief reflective account/presentation to their peers regarding their clinical placement experiences and learning journey of the module to support their preparation for the second placement block. Verbal discussion and feedback will be provided after the presentations. Thinking about, and preparing, for this presentation will support their placement experience and completion of their clinical portfolio.
