This module enables students with a Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) B1 in Arabic or similar level of linguistic competence in Arabic (i.e., Advanced Supplementary) to further develop their language skills up to CEFRL B1+ level. Language learning in this module is student-centred and task based. Listening, reading, writing, speaking, interaction tasks will be set. This module will equip you with the skills to comprehend and analyse texts critically. It will also help you sharpen your writing skills through writing practice. Also, the module will give you an opportunity to strengthen your oral and aural skills. By the end of this module, your four language skills will have improved immensely.
To consolidate knowledge of Arabic language studied during the Arabic year Abroad (or equivalent) and expand students’ linguistic knowledge of Arabic at independent users’ level and develop listening, reading, writing, speaking, and interaction skills and competence up to CEFRL B1+ level/equivalent.
Teaching is divided into a series of units, developing various important skills, such as the ability to work in a team, to a deadline, and the ability to assimilate and organise language material and present it in a given register, style and context.
Students should also develop a deeper awareness of the cultures of the Arab-speaking world.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1- Demonstrate an understanding of the main points of clear and well-structured text in Arabic on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
2- Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity in Arabic with proficient language users.
3- Produce simple connected and clear texts in Arabic on topics which are familiar or of personal interest and express a point of view.
4- Communicate effectively and concisely in Arabic adapting your communication strategy and style to different communication contexts, media, and audiences.
Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5- Recognize and evaluate different points of view and the ways in which these interact with different cultural contexts.
6- Use digital media effectively to tell stories and communicate ideas and information.
7- Evaluate different perspectives in different cultural contexts.

- Students will receive formative feedback from the tutor of their oral and written production during language classes, that is, during the weekly contact with the tutor.
