Module summary

This is a workplace-based learning module. Participants are required to identify a specific organisational problem, issue or project which the student is required to address under the supervision of the university tutor and with the guidance of a workplace mentor where applicable. The substantive theoretical content will therefore vary according to the focus of the issue/problem/ project chosen. Students are guided in the use of reflective techniques to plan, assess and review the activity.

Objectives

The objectives of this module are to enable students to:
• Undertake a sustained period of professional practice in the field of Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy, and achieve a series of pre-determined business and professional developmental outcomes, including evidence of successfully planning, implementing, analysing, reporting on and evaluating fundraising activities
• Engage in a sophisticated level of reflective practice, which illuminates and theorizes both everyday and strategic challenges of professional activity in the field of Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy, including the need to develop excellent leadership and inter-personal skills

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Apply qualitative methods to research the chosen the chosen issue/ problem/ project area
2. Demonstrate a sound theoretical understanding of the theoretical context of the chosen issue/ problem/ project area
3. Apply change management models, concepts and principles to effect a positive outcome

Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
4. Change management: carrying out, assessing and communicating the process of driving strategic change in the workplace
5. Career management: the ability to assess own strengths and development needs, employing reflective techniques to navigate challenges and opportunities

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Regular dates, times and duration of actual meetings with the tutor and mentor (if applicable) will be agreed at the beginning of the module. Extra meetings may be factored in at key times, such as before the submission of draft work. Specific guidelines will be supplied via verbal briefings and in writing on Minerva.
