The module will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your interpreting abilities at a professional standard as the culmination of your learning in the degree. You will work under supervision to provide an interpreting performance and to identify the challenges faced in your interpreting performance, together with the skills required and the strategies adopted to respond to these challenges. You will be responsible for proposing and securing the interpreting activity, which will involve working with one of the language pairs you have been trained during your interpreting degree. Please note this is an optional module and runs subject to enrolments. If a low number of students choose this module, then the module may not run and you may be asked to choose another module.

This module is designed to provide interpreting students with experience in producing an interpreting performance of a professional standard in their language combination and to increase students' awareness of the interpreting process in a professional setting and of their own interpreting production.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Interpret in a real-life like context
2. Analyse the interpreting performance and reflect upon the process and product
3. Manage interpreting services at a professional standard and adopt a proactive approach to interpreting tasks
4. Carry out effective research and preparation for an interpreting task.

Through supervision sessions with supervisors. Students will submit a proposal (interpreting task specifications), which they will discuss with their supervisor at the first meeting. They will have a second meeting with their supervisor to discuss their progress before their interpreting performance. Before the end of supervision students will submit a 10% sample of their projects, on which supervisors will provide formative feedback.
