Organisations use business analytics so they can make data-driven decisions which is now critical for a business to succeed. Analytics involves gathering, manipulating, analysing, and presenting information. MBA students in this module will learn to use analytical thinking to solve problems and to properly assess, review and consult data to inform their decisions.
MBA students will develop analytical thinking skills through learning and applying analytical tools to solve problems based on real data. They will gain an understanding of the value of data in an organisation and be able to support an organisation to enhance their analytical and data maturity.
On completion of the module, students will be able to:
1. Understand the value of data and AI in an organisation.
2. Develop analytical thinking skills through learning, applying and critically evaluating analytical tools to solve real business problems.
3. Understand the legal and ethical issues associated with data management.
4. Critically evaluate statistics, visualisations and other data typically presented in a boardroom.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
1. Be able to support an organisation to enhance their analytical and data maturity.
2. Identify misleading statistics and visualisations.
3. Understand and apply a range of analytical methods.
4. Increase digital literacy by learning to use tools such as Excel and R.
