This module aims to provide students with an understanding of how enterprise is viewed globally and the diverse challenges faced in new venture creation depending on the local economic environment. Students will be invited to evaluate theories and practice of enterprise and entrepreneurship.
Upon completion of this module, students will be able to critically evaluate:
- demonstrate in-depth critical knowledge of enterprise and entrepreneurship theories and concepts using techniques relevant to the discipline.
- apply and evaluate theory and practice in their own research, advanced scholarship or area
- demonstrate critical understanding of different approaches to entrepreneurship across the globe in both theory and practice.
- evaluate and contextualise current issues in enterprise and entrepreneurship
- critically evaluate the potential of business activities to deliver negative social and environmental impacts
Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:

- creatively formulate, evaluate and communicate ideas in writing to peers, tutors and others
- provide coherent and convincing oral presentations
- exhibit greater self-awareness and global and cultural insight
Subject specific
- confidently engage in entrepreneurial activity using techniques relevant to the discipline
The syllabus will include guest lectures delivered by academics representing different continents. Prior to each session, students will be preparing for the visit by drawing together insights from the literature and developing Q&A sessions. With each guest academic, students will be expected to take some lead over the discussions and compare/contrast what they have learned previously with different global perspectives on enterprise and entrepreneurship.
In addition, students will reflect on the content of the sessions in relation to entrepreneurship in their home country, both in theory and practice.
