On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- synthesis health related information in order to construct a health history;
- reflect upon and critically analyse personal communication skills when undertaking clinical examination;
- undertake a comprehensive and systematic approach to clinical examination of the patient;
- demonstrate competence and safety of practice;
- demonstrate effective communication of clinical examination findings.

Private study and independent learning will entail preparing for sessions and individual practice of skills.
- Students will practice clinical examinations every week under the supervision of the module team.
- Student progress will be monitored in class practical sessions through close supervision by module team members. Students will be encouraged to adopt a commentary style to their examination as they practice under supervision.
- Spot tests using images, sounds, demonstrations etc will be included every week to ensure that students develop the skills required to underpin the oral examination.
- Students will undertake a formal OSCE and oral exam mock.
