Module summary

The purpose of the module is to support you to investigate a range of ethical issues and aspects of malpractice related to academic contexts, and to understand how these relate to your professional practice. Within this, the module also aims to assess the nature and applications of case study research in these areas of enquiry.

Objectives

You will develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of ethical issues and aspects of malpractice in academic contexts by investigating various aspects of teaching and research practice. Within this, you will develop your ability to analyse current issues, evaluate relevant research and demonstrate application of knowledge to the field of practice.

Learning outcomes

1. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of key ethical issues related to academic contexts and teaching practices.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the features of case study research methods by using these in your own coursework

Skills Learning Outcomes

3. Apply knowledge of ethical issues in Higher Education and EAP to professional practice
4. Create a case study relevant to the module topics.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students will be invited to submit an initial plan and a draft. They will receive verbal feedback on this in a tutorial.

Tutors will provide informal feedback on online discussion board posts.
