This module examines the affordances of creativity and play for learning in a range of education and professional development environments. It will draw on creative and playful modes to stimulate experimentation, curiosity and imagination, and explore the ways in which these can engage diverse forms of learning and knowledge-making. It will be of interest to education practitioners wishing to expand their creative repertoires, and to creative practitioners wishing to theorise the educational dimensions of their work.
The module aims to examine the affordances of creativity and play for learning. It will draw on research and scholarship in creative and play-based inquiry to examine the (co-)creation of diverse forms of knowledge, and reflect on the affordances of these for learning in students’ own professional contexts. Classes will engage students in hands-on creative and play-based activities which they can readily use and adapt in their own educational practice, and support them in the development of activities to enhance their own practice through the encouragement of collaboration, freedom, experimentation and risk-taking.

The three 2-hour student sharing sessions are designed for students to share and test their ideas, and an opportunity for formative feedback from tutors and peers.
