This module is not approved as an Elective
This module introduces and explores theories and principles of Information, and Digital and Interaction Design, as well as techniques at an advanced level. Some examples of information design outputs that require both information and digital and interactive design are: websites and mobile information; Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR); motion graphics; infographics and data visualisation. This module examines a range of these applications and allows students to develop suitable design solutions for them.
This module gives students the opportunity to:
• Learn theoretical and practical perspectives regarding Information, Digital and Interactive Design.
• Explore the inter-disciplinary nature of Information, Digital and Interactive Design in a variety of contexts – environment, healthcare, education, business, public sector, etc.
• Address the specific needs and motivations of Information, Digital and Interactive Design users by developing creative and effective design solutions.
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Analyse and interpret current challenges, theories and principles of Information, Digital and Interactive Design in order to define a problem or need.
2. Access and critically analyse literature, and plan appropriate research methods
3. Generate ideas and demonstrate originality and imaginative thinking for digital and interactive design.
4. Design and develop effective and visually stimulating design solutions in response to a specific brief, problem and need.
Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5. Develop a logical approach to solving problems; resolving issues by tackling from different angles, using both analytical and creative skills.
