Adventures in the Archives is an interdisciplinary module that critically addresses notions of archive, memory and history and their relation to contemporary life today.
On this module, students will investigate the way in which the archive is being critically addressed through theoretical texts and through different areas of creative, museological and social practice. Via field visits and digital engagements with existing archives and ‘counter archives’ across the globe, you will learn through direct encounters with archival practice as well as by producing your own digital archive-based projects.
On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
1. Analyse key theories relating to notions of archive, memory and history
2. Evaluate forms of archival practice produced by artists, museum professionals and other practitioners
3. Propose methods and initiatives aimed at making archives accessible to a public
4. Appraise the process of digitalisation and its effect on archival material/ archival research.

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5. Creativity: The ability to generate ideas, demonstrate originality and imaginative thinking, including the concept of ‘thinking outside the box’.
